Job-Seeker Data Notice

Last updated: October 15, 2026

Career data is personal. This notice explains, in plain terms, how Job Hunt OS handles the information you use in your job search. It supplements the Privacy Policy, which governs.

1. Job Hunt OS works for you, not for employers

Job Hunt OS is a personal tool for organizing your job search and preparing your own career materials. It is not a recruiter, employment agency, employer, applicant tracking system, staffing firm, law firm, immigration adviser, or financial adviser, and it does not send your information to employers.

We act on your instructions to store, organize, and transform your own materials. No employer, recruiter, or job board has access to your account, and nothing is submitted on your behalf. Sending an application, message, or résumé is always something you do yourself, outside the app.

Integrations with email, LinkedIn, job boards, CRMs, or applicant tracking systems do not exist today. If we add any, they will be optional, and we will explain what they send before you connect them.

Our Partners page shows companies that support Job Hunt OS and links to roles on their own websites. You apply there, not here. Partners receive nothing from Job Hunt OS — not your profile, not your résumés, and not whether you looked at or saved a role.

2. What job-search data is processed

  • Your career history, education, skills, achievements, and interview stories.
  • Résumés or CVs you upload and the text extracted from them; text you paste.
  • If you choose to import from LinkedIn: the profile PDF or the export files you download from LinkedIn yourself. We never connect to LinkedIn, visit your profile URL, or scrape any website, and from an export we read only profile, positions, education, skills, languages, and certifications.
  • Résumé versions and PDFs you create, and drafts of outreach or thank-you messages.
  • Job descriptions you paste and the requirements extracted from them.
  • Your pipeline: opportunities, stages, application dates, which résumé version you sent, tasks, interviews, notes, reflections, and offers (including compensation figures you enter).
  • Contacts you add (other people's names, roles, contact details, and your notes about them).
  • An optional work-authorization note, only if you choose to add it.

3. Why it is processed

Only to provide the features you use: building a verified profile, drafting résumé versions from facts you confirmed, comparing your profile with a job description, tracking your search, and showing your own analytics. We do not use it for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train AI models.

4. You stay in control of every claim

Anything extracted from text or documents starts as a suggestion marked “unconfirmed”. It is never used in a résumé until you confirm it. The app is designed not to invent employers, titles, dates, degrees, skills, or metrics, and suggestions must cite facts you confirmed. You remain responsible for reviewing every document and message before you use it.

5. AI and scoring

When AI assistance is on (the default), the text needed for the feature you start — for example, text or a résumé you submit for fact extraction, a job description you paste, or your confirmed facts and a résumé version when you ask for suggestions — is sent to Anthropic, PBC (Claude) for processing. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, your content is not used to train its models; Anthropic may keep it for a limited period for safety and abuse monitoring (XXX days, pending confirmation). Your work-authorization note, your contacts' details, and your sign-in data are never sent. You can turn AI assistance off in Settings; the built-in, rule-based assistant is then used and nothing is sent to Anthropic. Details by feature are in AI Disclosures.

The “profile alignment” view is a rule-based heuristic with visible weights, shown only to you. It is not an ATS score, it is not a prediction of whether you will be hired, and it is never shared with anyone or used to make decisions about you.

6. Sensitive information

You do not need to provide sensitive information to use Job Hunt OS. Please avoid uploading documents that contain government ID numbers, date of birth, photos, health or disability details, immigration documents, or other sensitive data. The optional work-authorization note is never sent to an AI provider, never written to logs, and appears on a résumé only if you put it there.

Information about other people (your contacts) should be limited to what you need for your search. You are responsible for having an appropriate reason to store it.

7. Retention, export, and deletion

  • Your materials are kept until you delete them or your account; nothing is kept “forever” after you leave.
  • Export everything (data as JSON and CSV, plus your PDFs and uploads) from Settings → Your data. Bundles expire after 7 days.
  • Delete uploaded documents and their stored text, individual résumé versions, or your whole account at any time. Account deletion completes 7 days after you confirm, and you can cancel during that period.
  • When you delete a résumé version that was used in an application, the application keeps only its label and template name so your pipeline history stays consistent.

Full retention periods are in the Privacy Policy.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have rights to access, correct, delete, port, restrict, or object to processing of your data (EEA, UK, Spain), and rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale or sharing (California). Most can be exercised directly in the app; see Privacy Choices.
